TAUNTON Titans will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they make the trip to Reading to take on Redingensians Rams.

Last weekend’s home fixture against Cornish All Blacks was postponed 40 minutes before kick-off, so Titans will still be smarting from their disappointing defeat at Barnes on January 2.

The previous encounter against the Rams back in September saw the Titans romp to a 41-6 victory, scoring six tries in the process.

The then league newcomers have certainly improved since then and have picked up some noticeable wins, especially at Southend and Chinnor.

More recently, the Rams have pushed Canterbury and Old Albainan’s close, so the Titans will have to be at their best to get anything out of the game.

There will be a familiar face up at the Rams with former Titan, Kieran Ball now amongst their playing squad.

Kieran, who left the area to go to Oxford University, earned his Blue in the victory over Cambridge in the Varsity match and has now joined the Rams to see out the season.

For Titans, back in contention for selection is Sam Prior who wasn’t involved last week due to work commitments.

Sam has made a big impression, quite literally, this season and has often been a thorn in opposition defences.

Also back in training is Tom Popham, who led the Titans out in the first game of the season, and returns from long-term injury.

Also available should be young Exeter Chiefs’ fly-half, Joe Simmonds and former Coventry prop, Jake Caulfield.

Caulfield, who is from Weston-Super-Mare, was on loan to Titans from Coventry RFC and was recalled at the beginning of January.

However after discussion with Coventry, it was decided, by mutual consent, that due to the travelling and the likelihood of Caulfield not being involved with the National League One outfit, that he could be released from his commitments and see out the rest of the season a bit closer to home.
