Somerset 1: Wiveliscombe 29, Old Sulians 15 WIVELISCOMBE were relieved to gain a comfortable 14 point victory over Old Sulians after losing their last two league fixtures by a single point.

However, they ahd to come back from an eight point deficit at half time to do so.

Sulians started strongly with their pack causing Wivey problems and it came as no surprise when centre Jake Richardson crossed for the opening try.

Wivey eventually got into their stride and took the lead when right wing Dan Clarke was put over and full back Gareth Bellamy converted to give Wivey the lead.

Winger Josh Cook then put Sulians back into the lead, breaking several tackles to score in the bottom corner.

Ollie Pix converted and added a penalty soon afterwards to put the visitors 15-7 up at half time.

Wiveliscombe gradually took control in the second half and went on to gain a four try bonus point. Left wing Grant Davey crossed for two while captain Ollie Burrows and Gareth Bellamy added one apiece. Bellamy converted one to give Wivey a 29-15 victory.

Somerset 2 South: Wiveliscombe II 0, Castle Cary 57 WIVEY’S second team travelled to Castle Cary, the leaders of Somerset 2 South, and suffered a heavy defeat.

Cary looked stronger in most departments and look a good bet for promotion.

Wiveliscombe’s third XV match against St Bernadettes was called off when the Bristol side could not raise a team.

Hornets Colts 45, Wiveliscombe Colts 12 WIVEY looked well in this game at half time with the score tied at 12-12 as George Rowe scored four first half penalties for Wivey but Hornets pulled away in the second period.
