WELLINGTON Town Under-18s secured a resounding home victory with a great 8-0 win over Middlezoy yesterday.
In the early stages of the match, played on a heavy pitch, several chances fell to Wellington including a Jack Bryant header which the keeper did well to tip onto the bar.
Joe Conway broke the deadlock after 23 minutes with a well taken goal after which Conor Bryant had a shot from the edge of the area turned round the post.
Resilient defending and good goalkeeping prevented Wellington from extending their lead until five minutes before half-time when Aaron Hawkins scored after a goalmouth scramble and Joe Conway netted with a great cross-shot.
A few minutes into the second half, Joe Conway scored his third and Wellington’s fourth with a simple tap-in. Aaron Hawkins then nodded in at the far post.
After 70 minutes, Wellington missed a penalty kick before Jack Bryant scored a sixth goal and then completed his hat-trick.
The last kick of the game saw Darek Krol complete Wellington’s afternoon scoring their eighth goal from close range.
