WESTFORD Rangers clinched the first silverware of the season in the Taunton and District Sunday League.

Their 4-1 victory at home to Ash Rangers means they cannot be caught in Division Two and will now be looking to complete the season with a 100% record having won all 12 games so far.

Anthony Date scored two of the goal with Lee Hellier and Jamie Langford also on target. Ash’s reply came courtesy of an own goal.

PQR and Bagborough remain second and third respectively after a 1-1 draw – Marcus Whitehead netted for PQR and Simon Dennehey for Bagborough.

Holway United secured their second division status by beating Royal Crown 5-0 with goals from Chris Glover, Rob Trowbridge, Matt Blee, Neil Hobbs and Dan Walters.

In Division One, Bathpool missed a great opportunity to go level on points with leaders Spartans after being held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Westgate.

Jay Cross scored for Bathpool with Chris Every-Clayton responding for Westgate.

Spartans, without a game at the weekend, host Bathpool on Sunday in a major clash that could well be a title decider.

North Curry remain third despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Gardeners. Rob Grigg and Steve Mann scored Curry’s goals while Mark Wooliscroft netted twice for Gardeners.

There was also seperating Tone Youth and Staplegrove Sports who fought out a goalless draw – Scott Graham and George Pope on target for their respective sides.

The only winners of the day in the top division were Shepherd’s Wednesday who had Greg Hammond and Martin Jenkins on target in a 2-0 victory at Spaxton.

The Division Three title race is wide open again after Creech only managed a 1-1 draw at home to Watchet Blue Waves – Lee Hawkings scored for Creech.

Black Horse took full advantage by seeing off Phoenix Rangers 5-2 thanks to goals by James Costigan (3) and James Conway (2).

DB United secured a 3-1 win over Churchinford thanks to strikes from Luke Fox (2) and Gary Kennard, while Luke McCallister scored for Churchinford.

Ash Reserves drew 1-1 with Pegasus with Krystof Byrzel and Sam Hyslop on target for their respective sides.

FC Grove need one more win to secure promotion from Division Five after their 5-1 win over Cotford Saints. Andrew Wood hit a hat-trick in that match while Steve Weaver and Scott Holland got one apeice. Fellow promotion chasers Sportsman Rovers defeated Flying Fins 4-1, while Wyndham Arms beat Williton 2-1 with Nigel Jeffries hitting both. Dunster won 3-2 away to Milverton with goals from Guy Haniford and James Radford.
