TAUNTON Town are looking to strengthen their grip on a play-off place as they welcome Wimborne Town to the Viridor Stadium this evening (ko 7.45pm).
Saturday’s 3-0 win at home to Didcot saw the Peacocks climb to fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West, and they could go up another place with three points tonight as fourth-placed Salisbury are not playing.
Matt Wright’s brace at the weekend took him to 23 for the season, while prolific centre-half Owen Irish will also be hoping to add to his tally after notching his 12th goal of the campaign with a trademark towering header on Saturday.
Ed Palmer is likely to be back in the side after serving his suspension following his red card in the defeat at Paulton, which remains the only time Town have ended a match on the losing side since November.
Wimborne are currently 11th in the table but will be full of confidence themselves after their own impressive result at the weekend – they took a point from runaway league leaders Hereford after claiming a 2-2 draw at Edgar Street.
The Peacocks lost August’s reverse fixture against the Magpies so will have revenge on their minds this evening.
