A FORMER top decision marker on the previous Taunton Deane Borough Council has defected from the Conservatives.
Andy Sully, former executive member on John William's Tory-led TDBC, has converted to become a Liberal Democrat.
Mr Sully said: “The Lib Dems locally and the party’s national leadership are exactly in tune with what the country desperate needs - an end to the Brexit fiasco and stability for the economy and local businesses.
"I’ve also been impressed with the new council’s genuine commitment to a planet positive future for our area”.
Lib Dem councillor on the new council, Habib Farbahi, welcomed the move.
He said: "Andy is a dedicated and intelligent individual.
"He always made an effort to rise above party politics in the previous administration and we welcome his decision to join our growing party as we seek to improve Somerset West and Taunton.’’
