CHRIS Haig has sent us these images from the sky and the ground of progress on the improvements works along Toneway, in Taunton.

"So far it seems the central reservation has been removed between the Creech Castle junction and Hankridge Farm roundabout, with tarmac laid in its place for the new planned lanes, although this isn't completed yet," said Chris.

"Part of the footpath/pedestrian crossing seems to be coming along as well.

"Traffic into Taunton is still two lanes, while traffic out is still a single lane.

"Access to Creech Castle businesses is still open.

"Traffic flow seems quite good, although there is often queuing back up to Wickes roundabout, and the roundabout can become blocked from traffic leaving Toneway and heading over Obridge."

The £8.3million scheme will improve the capacity of Toneway, which is regularly jammed at peak times of the day.

Work start last month (August) after it was delayed in the spring due to the pandemic.

The project, which is due for completion at some stage in the summer of 2022, involves the closure of a section of the A38 Bridgwater Road north of the Toneway at the Creech Castle junction.

The Toneway scheme is part of the £19million project to improve Junction 25 of the M5 at Taunton.
