TAUNTON Town will make the short trip to Yeovil for their Emirates FA Cup fourth round qualifying tie later this month.

Yeovil Town will host the Peacocks in the teams' first competitive meeting since 1996 on Saturday, October 15 at Huish Park.

Taunton reached this stage of the competition by beating Walton & Hersham 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Cygnet Healthcare Stadium.

Midfielder Lloyd James scored his first goal for the Peacocks with a low, drilled free-kick after Zac Smith was fouled at the edge of the area.

Taunton also saw off Laverstock & Ford in the same competition in September thanks to a Ross Stearn goal and a late Jack Bycroft penalty save.

If Taunton win, they will emerge with £9,375 from the competition prize fund and earn a place in the first round proper, meaning they could face a Football League side.

The loser will receive a payment of £3,125 but miss out on the chance to earn more lucrative sums of money later in the competition.

When the clubs last met competitively, Yeovil needed a replay to beat Taunton in an FA Cup second round qualifying tie.

After a 0-0 draw at Huish Park, Yeovil battled back from 3-2 down to win 5-3 in front of 2,257 people at Wordsworth Drive.

The Somerset sides play regularly in pre-season. In July, they had to settle for a goalless draw in the county town, with Yeovil's Tom Knowles denied from the spot by Will Buse.

The Glovers play in the Vanarama National League, which is just one division higher than Taunton, who gained promotion to the National League South last season.

Yeovil sit in 19th position, having won once in their opening 11 matches (a 1-0 win against Dagenham & Redbridge at Huish Park in August). They have drawn six and lost four times.

Taunton occupy 14th in the National League South with 13 points from a possible 30.

Last week, the Peacocks were denied a win against another Somerset side, Bath City, in the dying minutes of a league fixture at the Cygnet Healthcare Stadium.

The all-Somerset FA Cup tie will be played at Huish Park on Saturday, October 15.
