A NUMBER of roads across Somerset remain closed this morning (Monday, January 16) due to flooding.
After more rainfall at the weekend, flood-prone roads are still closed for public safety.
The current list of closed roads is:
- Cutts Road (East Lyng to Athelney),
- New Road (West Lyng to North Curry),
- A361 (Burrowbridge to East Lyng),
- Langport Road (Muchelney to Langport),
- B3191 Cleeve Hill
- Both routes into Dulverton – B3222 from Axbridge and from Machine Cross – you can access via A396
- Willow Grove, Washford (land slip).
A spokesperson from Travel Somerset said: "All decisions are made to help keep people safe following advice from the emergency services or the Environment Agency.
"Once water levels have reduced, we will return to inspect the road and reopen the gates as soon as it is safe to do so."
Over the weekend there were a number of flood related incidents that resulted in road closures and emergency services rescues.
Once incident in particular was firefighters rescue baby from flood waters near Creech St Michael.
A spokesperson for the fire station said: "Crews used flood suits and wading poles to assist the driver, passenger and 6 month old baby."
