COUNCIL workers have this morning (Thursday, March 23) removed graffiti sprayed on the front of the former Debenhams store in Taunton town centre.
The Gazette yesterday flagged up the offensive wording in bright red lettering on the history timeline panels on the premises
Somerset West and Taunton Council (SWT) then arranged for the panels to be cleaned
It is urging people to report any further incidences using an online form on the council's website.
SWT executive member for environmental services Cllr Andy Sully said: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we can confirm this was removed earlier this morning.
"We don’t condone offensive or racist graffiti and in accordance with our service level agreement, we endeavour to remove sightings reported to us within 24 hours.
“We encourage anyone encountering graffiti to report it to us using the online form on our flyposting and graffiti webpage.”
