A TAUNTON girl aged 11 is off to Florida to represent Somerset in an international beauty pageant.

Keira John won the title of Miss Pre-Teen Galaxy Europe last summer in Texas and is hoping to win the Junior Miss Galaxy Pageant this summer for girls aged between six and 14.

Keira's mum, Dionne John, who has won a number of titles herself, said: "Keira has worked super hard this year with her title and has been made an ambassador for the charity BulliesOut and created her own bullying campaign 'Don’t Take My Sunshine Away.

"With this she has put her acting skills to use and has teamed up with film maker Daisy Russell and me to made a video which includes facts about bullying and helpline numbers.

Somerset County Gazette:

"This was fully supported by Childline, the NSPCC and BulliesOut."

Keira chose to start her campaign after she was cyber bullied and decided to help others who have had a similar experience.

She recently completed an eight-hour dance to raise £220 for BulliesOut, which provides help, training, support and information to individuals, schools, youth and community settings affected by bullying.
