A MOTORIST has been banned for doing 80mph on a road where the speed limit was reduced due to a number of serious accidents.
Mark Charles Dunn, 59, pleaded guilty when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court to the offence on the A38 at Thurloxton, between Taunton and Bridgwater.
Dunn, of Admirals Court, Bridgwater, admitted breaking the 50mph speed limit on May 26 last year.
He was fined £200 and ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and £90 towards prosecution costs.

The magistrates also endorsed his licence with six penalty points and disqualified him for six months "due to repeat offending".
His total court bill of £370 must be paid by February 27.
A 50mph limit was introduced on the road a number of years ago after locals raised concerns over road traffic collisions, including serious injuries and fatalities.
