Julie Haylock and her husband, Andrew, of Sandhurst Garden Design in Yeovil, were awarded the medal for their Jane Austen inspired garden at this year's show.

The garden drew on the literary works of Jane Austen and featured structural elements in homage to a once-great Georgian house. 

The romantic formal garden is secluded by a Fagus Sylvatica hedge on two sides, has a circular gravel path inscribed with the author's well-known titles.

It also includes well-tended borders of blue, white and silver planting, topiary and statues until you arrive at the bench where you can sit for a while and rest.

Speaking to the County Gazette about her garden, Julie said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to have won a Gold Medal at Taunton and I am very grateful to all those who have helped."

"The metal features represent the walls of a once great Georgian house, fitting for Jane Austen's 250th anniversary and the regency period."
