POLICE have pledged to carry out high visibility controls in a village where large quantities of nails have been spread across a road on a number of occasions.
The nails have been scattered on the road in Bishops Lydeard.
A Wellington Neighbourhood Policing Team spokesperson said: "We have again been made aware of a large quantity of nails being found scattered on the road in Greenway."
It is the third time such incidents have been reported to the police in the village - the previous occasions were in October, when several residents were left with punctured tyres.
The spokesperson added: "Wellington Police Team are treating this incident and previous incidents as criminal damage and we will continue to carry out high visibility engagement and reassurance patrols in this area.
We would encourage all members of this community to be vigilant and to contact the police immediately via 999 if you witness anything unusual in this area.
"If you have any information at all about who may be responsible for this please call 101 and quote crime reference number 5221269419, alternatively, any information you have can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111."
