SOMERSET'S biggest ever quiz is set to take place on Friday, May 12.

Passion for Somerset CIC, the organisers behind Somerset Day, are encouraging residents to take part in creating a new record for Somerset's biggest ever quiz.

Questions about Somerset will be asked. Due to the event being held around the same time as the Coronation of King Charles III, there will also be questions about the crown jewels and Royal connections.

In conjunction with BBC Radio Somerset, a virtual and actual pub quiz will take place on the day between 7pm and 9pm.

The organisers are encouraging pubs, village halls, care homes, schools and more to host a quiz on the same night to raise money for good causes.

To help people organise their own quizzes, Somerset Day organisers will provide a pack with the rounds, questions and answers. Information packs and how to register your quiz are available on www.somersetday.com.

Rumwell Farm Shop have already sold tickets to their event, which will raise money for Age UK Somerset.

Rumwell Farm Shop partner, Anne Mitchell, said: “We are really excited about being part of Somerset’s biggest ever quiz and helping to raise funds for a great local charity, Age UK Somerset.”

Somerset Day founder, Nigel Muers-Raby, added: “This is no ordinary Somerset Day and no ordinary quiz – we are organising Somerset’s BIGGEST EVER Quiz.

"If you run a pub or community venue, have a team of employees or friends that would benefit from a social or are a school that needs funds raising, then this could be the perfect opportunity to bring together your community and raise funds for a local Somerset-based cause.”

This isn't the first time that the popular farm shop and cafe have hosted a charitable event. A Charity Quiz and Supper Evening was held in January to raise money for Age UK Somerset.

Age UK Somerset, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, is an independent charity.

It works in the community to help older people that need support with a variety of services that assist with combatting loneliness, keep people fit and well and support those struggling financially.
