A YEOVIL primary school is amongst the best in the country, according to The Sunday Times' Parent Power league table.

In Somerset, five primary schools made it onto the 500-strong list.

Preston CofE Primary School has a ranking of 25. The CofE school has an English score of 111, a Grammar score of 114, and a Maths score of 112.

A spokesperson from the school said: "We are really pleased to feature in the Sunday Times league table as one of the highest achieving primary schools in the country.

"We strive for excellence in all areas of education and this is a reflection on the hard work and dedication of our pupils, staff, community and Preston Primary Academy Trust."

The Times' article reads: "The Sunday Times Parent Power league table of the best primary schools in England shows that schools in London and the southwest are continuing to dominate the top rungs."
