AVON and Somerset Police have released video footage of a motorcyclist who was caught speeding at almost 120mph on a stretch of the M5 near Taunton.
The rider was pulled over by on duty officers who clocked him travelling at 118mph.
Video footage from the police car shows the offender pull over into the hard shoulder right in front of the sign for Taunton Deane Services.
A police spokesperson said that a third of all fatal road traffic collisions dealt with by Avon and Somerset Police in 2023 have involved a motorcyclist.
"Riding like this on the motorway & rural roads presents a real risk to life," they added.
Speeding has become a real issue in Somerset recently, and the police are clearly keen to crack down on irresponsible drivers.
Just this week, Avon and Somerset Police have stopped almost 300 speeding drivers in the area.
Earlier in the week, almost 200 motorists were spotted speeding on the Toneway over a two hour period.
A BMW driver was another caught on the M5, as police clocked the vehicle travelling at 107mph among a further 112 speeding motorists caught on Monday morning (October 20).
